How Not To Submit An Article To A Directory

By: Tom O Brien

You're busy constructing articles getting ready to distribute them and make a big name for yourself on the Internet. You've heard that Article submissions are a great tool to help you achieve your goals and busy yourself creating and submitting them.

But will they be published?

It doesn't matter whether you're writing an:

  • "Article on Therapeutic Recreation"

  • "astrology and financial articles"

  • "Lodging Industry Articles"

  • "tightpoker poker articles"

  • "Articles of Kids Science"

  • "Internet Travel Articles"

  • "home based business news articles" or even a

  • "Science Current Event Article"

The issues remain the same:

Article Directory owners like myself are under attack at the moment. The onslaught is subtle but just as deadly as any conventional weapons in a spammers arsenal.

We as directory owners are constantly looking for good fresh content to include for visitors and subscribers alike to benefit from.
But the last few months in particular have seen a huge rise in spammy article submissions.
What do I mean by this?
Articles that fit the description of
"spammy" normally have some of the following criteria:
1. Blasted out by automated submission services
2. Are only a couple of paragraphs long
3. Do not have a category for submission selected or
4. If they do have a category for submission selected it is the wrong category
5. Are blatant ADVERTS from start to finish
6. Have explicit affiliate link information displayed
7. Authors repeatedly submit without confirming their signup email.

What's the bottom line?

Article Directory owners are now getting hundreds and even thousands of submissions on a daily basis.

Would that it were quality rather than quantity, then we wouldn't have anything to complain about!

Instead our time is spent weedling out the rubbish.

What could this mean for you?
Well if other directory owners follow my lead, it could mean you lose your account entirely - unfortunately I have had to adopt a zero tolerance policy for spam articles.

Starting today, my directory is being cleansed of offenders with accounts deleted.

Be warned, when you submit to directories, remember there is often a human being on the other end who has to take a look and approve your submission (rather than simple bulk approval - which demeans a given site).

If you want to learn how to effectively market your articles, here is a piece of software and a whole "system" in itself I recommend:

A great automated service whom I have used to receive submissions (but have had to cease using due to the current backlog) is Article Marketer.

Those who fail to heed, beware - your publisher accounts across the net may soon be switched off.

Wishing you the best of success in your publishing efforts.
