Reward Them and Become Their Hero

To get the best from your staff, good bosses need to make people interested in helping achieve their goals.  But staff have to keep to their side of the bargain.

LOYALTY  is the best thing you need from your staff.  Without it you are sunk.  You can expect it, and you may have to buy it to a certain extent, but it still needs to be earned.

DELEGATE,  delegate delegate.  It motivates people, makes them part of the team, takes advantage of their talents, and reduces your own workload.  But don’t delegate responsibility unless you delegate the necessary authority.

COOPERATION  is important, both between the staff and you, and also between all members of your team.  Your people must know that if they are not good to you, you will be ghastly to them.  Your staff must believe they have just three choices - cooperate and be treated well, refuse to cooperate and be treated badly, or quit.

ENCOURAGE  enthusiasm.  It is the factor that makes the difference between the employee who gives all-out effort and the one who does the least necessary.  Enthusiasm rubs off on other people too.

SHARE  knowledge.  Your staff should hear important decisions and matters affecting the department from you, not through the office grapevine.  They deserve that courtesy.  In return, you should expect them to pass on any relevant information to you.

PEOPLE are individuals, and expect to be treated as such.  One employee may respond well to a kick up the backside, but others need a gentler approach.  Respect their differences - and don’t humiliate them.  In return, you should earn their respect.

HERO  worship is acceptable in the office - provided you are their hero.

Creative Action - 7 Tips to Financial Success

My sister loves lists. She says they keep her on track and trigger her memory. So, she asked me to make a list detailing what it took for me to reach the level of success I have.

Actually what she really wanted is to learn what it takes to stay committed and focused on a goal. Her goals seemed to blur and then disappear after initially burning as bright as the sun on a summer’s day.

This is quite common. So don’t fret.

But now forget that you were once a goal-setter-trasher. Go into unfamiliar territory and cast off those shackles of procrastination. Be fearless and eager to learn.

Let’s start with the basics:

1. Turn off the TV. You won’t change your life if you keep watching the world go by. So get off your couch, or bed, toss the remote, walk to your tube and press the OFF button. Better yet, put it behind closed doors. It’s addictive. Seeing it might disturb your creativity. Now, I know you might feel deprived and suffer from withdrawal, but, when your life changes you’ll get over it.

2. Go to a bookstore. If you don’t have a good dictionary and thesaurus, Walk to your local bookstore and purchase these two indispensable items. While your browsing, check out the Biography section to read books written by people you wish to emulate. Equally as important, buy How To/Advice books on the subject your interested in.

3. Read. Back home on the couch, sans remote, read, read and read. Underline, highlight and take notes. Write down what you are learning.

4. Grab a pen and notepad. Now that it’s quiet, start listening to your thoughts. Write. Write anything that comes to mind. Write about the life you want. Describe it in absolute detail. This should not be a hardship. Make it fun. Feel yourself living the life you always wanted. If you can’t handle it, go back and start from the top.

5. Ask questions. Ask experts who have succeeded in what you want to do all the questions you have. Commit this Rudyard Kipling poem to memory: “Six honest serving men–they taught me all I know–their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.”

6. Pick a product you want to sell. Remember - all forms of art must be successfully marketed into actual products or services. Create your first niche product.

7. Watch your thoughts and words. In order to maximize success, remember: the words you choose and use create your life’s news.

Your full commitment is changing your life for the better. The more creative fuel you emit towards your goal, the faster you’ll reach it. You know your life is in your hands. Now get those hands dirty. Watch your fears melt away.

That is the power of Creative Action.

It’s Never Too Late to Learn

Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m too old to learn”? Did you believe them? I hope not. There are many people in their 50’s and 60’s going back to college to earn their degree. At that point in their life they are probably doing it because it is something they want to accomplish. The likelihood of improved earning power is no longer the motivating factor.

Computers are now such a part of our lives. Do you know anyone who is very uncomfortable around computers? Chances are it is an older person. Younger people have grown up with computers and are very knowledgeable of them. Share your knowledge with them. Even if you only have basic knowledge, share it. They will think you are a genius. Teach them to e-mail. Teach them the basics of MS Word. Teach them to surf the web. What a wealth of knowledge is available online. Teach them to find it. It will enrich their lives.

I recently began an online business .
I spent months researching businesses and ended up joining this opportunity. It required very little investment, which suited my budget. A fully set-up website was included. Now I had so much information at my fingertips. I was overwhelmed! I couldn’t concentrate on one thing. There were so many things to investigate. Fortunately, as a member of this organization, I had access to an excellent Forum. People are so helpful. You get answers and encouragement. The downside of this is that I then felt pulled in many more directions. I was learning a lot, but not making much progress.

Then a gentleman posted a thread on the forum. As I said earlier, share your knowledge with others. He is very successful. He offered to help any members who felt like they needed help. I was amazed! This man could sit back and do nothing and still make good money. Here he was, offering to help a newbie.

He is sharing his knowledge and I am working hard to learn everything that he says I should learn. A couple of weeks ago “HTML” didn’t mean much to me. Now (after studying) I can go in my website and make changes. WOW! I never thought I would ever be able to do that. My confidence is growing and I know I will succeed.
Thank you!

Again I ask, as I did at the beginning, are you ever too old to learn? In a few weeks I turn sixty. I have learned a lot in the last few months. My brain seems to work even when I am asleep. The other night I could not fix a problem on my website. I finally gave up and went to bed. When I woke in the morning, I had the answer.
I do not care what age you are: EXPAND YOUR MIND. FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, GO AFTER THE IMPOSSIBLE! You won’t be sorry. You will grow, even if you don’t succeed in a particular endeavor. You will try again and you will make it.

Live Life to the Fullest.
Enjoy Life.
Share your Knowledge with Others..

Management - Strength Earns Respect

The Boss’s part of the deal with his staff is simple and direct.  No employee wants to work for a jerk - and there is no reason for you to be one.  Here’s how to avoid it:

ACT like a leader.  Be strong and enforce the rules, but stand up for your people.

BE  realistic.  The goals you set for yourself and your staff must be achievable.

LEAD  by example.  When there is work to be done, don’t just bark out orders.

BE  specific.  Tell your staff what you want done, how you want it done, and why.

DON’T  make promises you cannot keep.

ASK  for advice - and listen to it.  The boss who doesn’t listen loses out on opportunities to keep his staff involved.

ENCOURAGE  questions.  If you don’t share knowledge, people will stop asking and start guessing.

SET and enforce deadlines.  But in the meantime don’t keep butting in.

BE  constructive in criticism.  If something goes wrong, don’t be afraid to get angry, but tell the offender where he went wrong and what he should have done.

REWARD people properly.  It doesn’t have to be money; everyone needs a few words of praise from time to time.

KEEP  your word.  If you don’t, the grapevine will mark you as untrustworthy.

CUT  through the red tape.  Hold regular staff meetings.  Chat to everyone.

HIRE  only the best.  Set out exactly what you expect of them, and how much you will pay them.

DO  your own dirty work.  Don’t coerce your staff to do anything that will violate their ethics, hurt their careers or put their jobs in jeopardy.

DON’T  let power go to your head.  The truly successful boss does not waste his time and money feeding his ego.  He uses his power selectively to meet specific goals.

The Manifest Mindset

Have you noticed that your life isn’t moving in the direction that you really want it to?

You should realize that you can affect the direction of your life and make it move easily and naturally in the direction that you desire. Your dreams for your life will manifest themselves actually even more effortlessly than your life has manifested itself and what it has become up to this point.

A person’s subconscious mind forms beliefs (usually in childhood) that limit that person’s ability to achieve the dreams that he/she has in his/her life. A person’s subconscious beliefs are much like the autopilot programming that is set to take a plane to a specific destination.

If the pilot of the plane wants to go in different direction, he/she will fight against the autopilot programming in an attempt to change the course he/she is on. However, the autopilot is entirely in control and there won’t be any difference made in the direction the plane is flying.

Once the pilot addresses the programming of the autopilot directly, and changes the commands that the autopilot holds, the pilot can then easily turn the plane in any direction he/she chooses.

A person who is in effect the pilot in his/her life may fight very hard to change the course of his/her life, but the subconscious programming that exists in his/her mind will overpower the person’s efforts and his/her life will continue moving in an undesirable direction until he/she addresses the programming in the subconsciousness.

Once a person changes his/her deeply rooted beliefs that limit him/her in life, and reprogram those beliefs to support what he/she wants in life, that person will notice a natural, effortless movement in the desired direction.

You now have the knowledge you need to take begin making your life move in the direction you choose. You owe one thing to yourself more than any other thing, and that is to respectfully manifest your dreams in your life. Today, you can choose to those a few steps that will cause your life to move effortlessly in the direction you want your life to go; the direction toward your dreams.
